Brain Disease May Be A Consequence Of Bird Flu

According to recent surveys and research studies carried out by social scientists, some kinds of bird flue virus, also known as influenza virus, may cause people to get affected by diseases like Parkinson and Alzheimer's sometime in their respective lives. The St. Jude Research Hospital located at Memphis has indicated that the bird may cause the Parkinson's disease or other neurological problems in life, a fact that is terrible in its wake.

Mice were used as bodies or testing instruments in order to test the effects of the H5N1 bird flue virus on the brain. A solution, which contained a highly pathological subtype of H5N1, was sprayed into the noses of two hundred and twenty five mice, by Dr. Richard Smeyne. The results that they found were astonishing. The result showed that the virus affected the nervous system before going on to damage the brain. When it reaches the brain, activation of the immune system takes place, even though the viral infection is cleared some time ago. Protein aggregation takes place due to the activation of the immune system. Moreover diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's take place due to the same reason.

According to the study, up to 17 percent loss may take place in neurons when a person is affected by Parkinson's. Accumulation of protein cells, in the brain, also take place. A/Vietnam/1203/04 strain was the only strain to be observed, if and when the H5N1 virus is concerned. The threat which may be posed by diseases like the H1N1 flu virus is being studied currently and scientists are hopeful that they would be able to find a cure to the diseases soon, a fool-proof cure.

An immune retort that stays on with you, after the preliminary threat has vanished is sparked by the H5H1 disease. This is the time when one can feel most vulnerable as one may get attacked by a second hit of the disease. The Parkinson's disease may occur at a later time, if a person is infected by bird flu virus. The second hit does not even need to be bird flu pandemic; another infection, environmental toxic or drug can set the things in motion.

While the H5N1 has been isolated in the nervous system, according to many recent studies, for the first time, mankind knows the way in which the virus enters the brain and the consequences. The path is from the stomach to the nervous system and onward towards the brain, according to the study by a renowned doctor, namely Dr. Smeyne. He also avowed that the attack of the first virus may leave the brain vulnerable from the attack, the second time. He cautioned everyone to be careful and watch out for pandemics, like the bird flu influenza disease.

Symptoms of encephalitis or inflammation in the brain may also be caused by all flu viruses, including the likes of the current H5N1 virus. However no proof till date can prove that the nervous system is indeed affected by this deadly virus.
