Bird flu, also known as avain(bird) influenza (flu) virus affects the human race adversely. Birds are the natural carriers of this pandemic flu that has the capacity to destroy millions of people all around the world. The intestines of the birds carry this deadly virus. However the birds do not seen to be affected by the disease. However the disease may be caught by domesticated birds like turkeys and chicken which may make them fall sick and eventually kill them.
Today the bird influenza is a very deadly virus and is of great concern all over the globe. Millions could be affected if the disease goes on, unabated. All the governments in the world are worried over the growing menace of this infamous disease. In technical or scientific terms, avian influenza or bird flu is known as H5N1.
There are some drugs like the famous TamiFlu that should be taken two days after the symptoms start. The only drug that is effective against Bird flu is the TamiFlu. The importance and the effectiveness of the Tami Flu is such that a person, who might have died may be saved if he intakes the drug.
Though Avain is mainly used as 'bird' context, influenza is the other name for 'flu'. Thus influenza affected domestic as well as wild birds including, ducks, chickens etc. Influenza Virus Type A is the reason behind the bird flu. Two subtypes, the H5, and H7, are the subtypes of the influenza that specifically affects birds. These diseases are a part of 'highly pathogenic diseases (HPA1) avian influenza. The may lead to fatal attacks on birds and could lead to severe bird flu epidemics.
You don't need to wear a mask for routine use, as yet; at least is not compulsory. In the United States however a large number of people have started wearing masks in public in order to avoid getting affected by any respiratory diseases. Moreover people are seeing wearing the masks in social communities like schools, colleges, and public gatherings.
If the claims of Chinese scientists are to be believed, then a new drug that is even more effective than Tami Flu is now available. A neuraminidase inhibitor is the new medicine and it inhibits an enzyme known as neuraminidase. The drug prevents the disease from spreading to other parts of the body, once it infects the cell, similar to the drug made by the Switzerland based company, Roche.
If you handle birds at any point of time, be sure to wear protective wear along with breathing masks. If you give aspirin to children or adolescents who are infected by the virus, it may not help them at all; in fact they will be vulnerable for a grave illness known as Reye "syndrome.
The aim of the bird flu treatment is to reduce the level of the disease, not to prevent it. The traditional herbs and homeopathies have been around for centuries to fight infections. You have to steel yourself from the attack of the deadly virus.
